Barry D. Broad

Barry D. Broad is a lawyer in private practice specializing in lobbying and government relations. After graduating UC Davis Law School in 1982, he began his career as a staff counsel to the California Public Employment Relations Board. In 1985, he entered the lobbying world as an attorney for the California Teamsters Public Affairs Council. In 1994, he established his own lobbying practice, which has grown to include a number of labor unions, professional associations, and corporations. In 1999, Shane A. Gusman, also a graduate of UC Davis Law School, joined the firm as an associate.

Barry serves on a number of Boards and Commissions. Governor Gray Davis appointed Barry as a Member of the California Industrial Welfare Commission and later as a member of the California Building Standards Commission. He also serves as a member of the Employment Training Panel as an appointee of Senate President Pro Tem John Burton. In 2002, he was appointed by the Insurance Commissioner to the Governing Board of the California Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau.




 

Shane A. Gusman

Shane A. Gusman is an attorney with the law offices of Barry D. Broad. He specializes in government relations and represents a number of labor unions at the state capitol. Some of the groups he lobbies on behalf of include the California Teamsters Public Affairs Council, the United Food & Commercial Workers, the Amalgamated Transit Union, the Hotel Employees, Restaurant Employees International Union, the California Conference of Machinists, the Engineers & Scientists of California, and the Professional & Technical Engineers, Local 21.
