Welcome to the Registry of Officials created by the California Official Court Reporters Association.
There has been a trend in various superior courts throughout the state to remove official court reporters from civil courts. Aside from the negative effects to the public and the judicial system, this has resulted in the layoff of many officials. The California Official Court Reporters Assn. would like to help both the official reporters that have been laid off and counsels that find themselves in courts unstaffed by reporters.
COCRA has developed this page on our website containing the names of official reporters from all over the state who have been recently laid off.
This registry will contain the names and contact info for those officials. It is our intent to promote these officials for the experience and expertise that these officials bring to counsels seeking a reporter for a civil proceeding.
If you are an official who would like to add your name to our registry, please contact us. We will send you a brief form to fill out that will give us information that we need to post to the registry. It is COCRA’s hope to focus as much attention as we can to all of you who have been or may get laid off.
COCRA publishes the following list as a service to litigants and the legal community. We urge all counsel and parties who have matters set in the San Francisco Superior Court to contact these highly qualified reporters the next time you go to court.

“During my tenure as an Official with Alameda County I was a floater for four-plus years and on assignment for six years. As a floater I've covered as many as four courtrooms in one day. I traveled throughout North County as well as South County working in a variety of different courtrooms involving many different areas of law. I then was on a six-month assignment in a civil trial department, and shortly thereafter I was on a six-month assignment in a criminal trial department; during these assignments I solely accomplished trials from beginning to end.
For the past six years I worked in Civil Law & Motion, which encompassed everything from unlawful detainers to writ petitions including CEQA matters throughout the State of California.”

I was a deposition firm owner from 1989 until 2007, when I came to work for Mendocino County Superior Court, where I've worked in the Ukiah, WIllits and Ten Mile branches.”
San Francisco County
As of October 3rd, 2011 , the San Francisco Superior Court will no longer be providing official court reporters in certain civil departments. This will require litigants to hire their own reporters to have their civil-related matters reported. The bad news is the court reporters who worked in the civil courts were laid off.
The good news, for counsel and parties who now have to find their own court reporter, is that these newly unemployed reporters are available to cover your matter in the San Francisco Superior Court. These reporters include realtime writers with years of experience in a wide variety of court work. All are familiar with court rules and procedure, including jury trials and transcript production.
